(I just wrote this tonight hehe)
I was sitting on soft sand at a beach in Chicago years ago,
I looked up at the blue sky
Saw a plane hovering by
Behind it, a sign fluttering a big word that read: “Lost”
Also showing the times and dates it aired.
I thought to myself, “Ah, whatever”.
I passed my statistics class with a whopping A last summer,
Mom says “Let’s celebrate that A at Red Lobster!”
Then there stood Dan Hoger as my waiter
I am sure my face became red
He handed over his card, I said
“Oh my, he’s a screenwriter!”
He was the cutest and funniest waiter ever,
So I assumed this guy was pretty clever.
I gave it some thought and time
Read his card once more
Got the nerve to surf “www.danhoger.com”
I was nervous as hell, didn’t want to be a stalker
I took one last look and clicked on “Facebook”.
I used to call him “Shrimp Master Dan”
Then I thought, “Damn, that doesn't fit”
So that’s why I call him “Writer Dan”.
We met at First Cup coffee shop,
He does all kinds of writing there,
We talked about movies,
He spoke about directors and writers:
Kevin Smith, JJ Abrams,
Damon Lindelof, and Carlton Cuse.
He probably mentioned a few others,
But I was clueless with screenwriter’s names.
He talked about Lost,
And how hooked I’ll become,
I resisted and thought, “Ha, yea right!”
He says to me with such enthusiasm, “Lost is brilliant!”
Then there we sat on a fluffy couch with margaritas in hand,
He makes the best by the way!
He walked up to the brown wooden television stand,
We watched Pilot Parts One and Two,
Tabula Rasa, and Walkabout.
A plane crashes onto a beautiful jungle island,
Leaving 48 survivors stranded,
Claire is pregnant,
Locke is walking,
Where the heck did that Polar Bear come from?
Dan said, "It gets even better!"
Secrets, Polar Bears, Drama, oh my!
Still trying to figure out how it all happened,
I thought, “This is good!”
The next episode always proves me wrong,
I get flustered and aggravated and hooked even more.
Why are all my answers wrong?
What is going on?
Writer Dan gives me homework:
“Watch the episodes closely,
pay attention to character’s themes,
then report back to me”
Alas! He helped me figure out a theme:
Charlie has the need
to take care of someone
other than himself.
After that, I think I got the hang of it.
This show is absolutely amazing,
always leaves me wondering.
Flashbacks after flashbacks,
Secrets after secrets,
Sawyer and Kate finally kiss,
Ben is a crazy lunatic,
Trips to and fro Hollywood Video,
And online chats with Writer Dan.
This is how I became hooked.
I then find out that Dan Hoger
definitely is clever, a sneaky booger.
Righters Untie makes me even more excited,
I have to catch up so I can read all your stuff!
