Surprised there wasn't a thread on the re-imagining of "V" here. Maybe because it's still a ways off?
Anyway, I loved the original series (although, it's kind of silly now) and definitely believe that this is a remake that may actually be justified.
Also, Jeff Bell as showrunner is giving me a lot of confidence as well as ABC allowing the show an "end date" (tbd) similar to what LOST has.
My one gripe so far? That the "visitors" are referred to as "V's". That's kind of dumb. I liked it better in the original when the V simply stood for Victory. Ah, well, Wash, Inara and Juliet are all on board for the pilot so I guess it evens out.
If anyone comes across the script for the pilot, please hook me up - I'm dying for a read before I see actual episode. Thanks.

I didn't post it because this basically confirms Juliet's death on Lost.

You never know. V will only have 13 episodes and should be done filming by January, where LOST would be at episode 6/7. She could make a shocking return near the middle of the season or even at the end... Who knows? I wouldn't count anything out yet, though. Back on topic: It looks OK, I don't know how it will pan out though. We'll see when it comes on.

What's V about? I've never heard of it - but if it's got Wash and Inara - it sounds like it'll be great.

From the trailer I found on youtube, posted by ABCNetwork:
"Elizabeth Mitchell stars in a bold re-imagining of the sci-fi classic.
Today, the world woke up to find spaceships over every major city. The Visitors claim to have come in peace, bringing gifts of medical miracles and technological breakthroughs. They promise to do no harm. They're lying.
Most people believe the aliens have arrived just when we needed them most. We're eager to embrace their generous offers of help, but while tracking a terrorist cell, Homeland Security agent Erica Evans stumbles upon something far more sinister. Erica discovers that the aliens have plans to infiltrate our governments and businesses, planting seeds for their plot to control mankind. Convincing anyone of the truth will be impossible because the Visitors have two powerful weapons. First, they've given the people faith with their reassuring presence and gifts. Second, they've rallied our youth. Thousands of teens, including Erica's son, have been recruited as 'Peace Ambassadors' but they're actually serving as unwitting spies. When Erica gets thrust into the resistance movement, she'll have to balance her covert activities with her job and her role as a mother, fighting to protect her son Tyler - even as he joins forces with the enemy.
Let the invasion begin."

Okay, so I finally got my hands on a network draft of the pilot.
My non-spoilery commentary:
The opening is pretty cool and demonstrates more personality in it's characters than the whole of FlashForward's pilot episode.
The weakest link is most certainly the Priest. His distrust and suspicion of the visitors is not earned in the script.
There is another character who has a strong belief in God and her reasoning to suspect and distrust them works perfectly and is somewhat heart-breaking. Great character - tiny role.
The character of Erica's (EM) son is going to walk a fine line between "ok" and outright "annoying" depending on the actor.
There is a reveal at the end that anyone can see coming. Also, a certain segment of sci-fi fans will likely not be happy as a result.
Immediately thereafter is another reveal that was a bit more of a surprise, and while a bit convenient, will be interesting to see how it develops.
Overall? It's good with the potential to be great. With Jeff Bell coming in to run Episode 1.02 and on, it'll will meet that potential, if not surpass it.
Definitely one to watch for.

Absolutely loved it - my review for it is up. Too bad ABC is going to show 4 episodes in November and then not air anymore until March. They might as well should have just started the show up in Feburary - this break is going to kill me.

V Episode 1x02 "There Is No Normal Anymore" REVIEW
This episode didn't feel like a standalone episode, but more of a continuation from the PILOT. It's not neccesarily a bad thing but I would've prefered if it were advertised as "Pilot, Part 2" and aired as a two-hour pilot. Erica Evans continues to shine as a kickass FBI Agent, a mother who tries, and a woman haunted by the revelation that her partner Dale Maddox was a Visitor and that they're not here for good intentions - but bad. Tyler Evans annoyed me in this episode, his relationship with Lisa is really awkward in my opinion and not well portrayed. Both actors lack chemistry and I found Tyler's puppy-dog-eyes around her to be quite annoying. Oh, and Brandon falls into 'annoying-dude-spurting-teenager' category. :/ The other stories beside Tyler's were all great. Chad Decker is put under fire for 'attacking' the V's but in reality manipulates Anna into thinking he was doing it in her favor, though I still find his intentions cloudy. One of the most interesting characters, Ryan Nichols struggles with his real life as a V and his love for girlfriend Valerie Stevens. This plot should be interesting to unfold, I find him to be one of the most intriguing characters - probably my second favorite behind Erica. Valerie seems relatively undeveloped and at this point just seems like 'damsel-in-distress' fodder for a later point in the series. Jack Landry is approached by the V task unit in the government and Erica is forced to confront her boss about what happened to Dale. Both were intriguing and Erica's warning to Jack not to trust anyone and their eventual team-up to form a resistance against the V's should open up lots of cool plots for the future. Overall, a good episode - it just seemed to build off the pilot more than be its own standalone episode. SCORE: 8.0/10 -- GREAT[/Color]

I'll be watching when it premieres next Tuesday down here ... not because of EM, but because of Joel Gretsch
