I still think an RU online Poker match would be hilarious.
Also, whilst I'm here, I really think the creative section should be open to see for Guests. People come here as a guest, see a script writing site which lacks any scripts. I think it's confusing and off putting. Is there any way to make the RUN section viewable on the main page, but if you click on the actual boards can't guests be greeted with a, "You do not have permission to access this board"etc. Does any of that make sense?

I dunno. The whole point of shelving the creative section is to protect our works from thieves. If anyone were to just come onto the sight, they could easily take our scripts and then submit them around as their own work. We don't have any other form of protection on our scripts, so I think it's safe to say that I'd prefer to keep the creative section off-limits to guests.
If one is truly eager to join the forum and the discussion of scripts, they will. Simple as that.

ANYONE can come and take our scripts, slap their names on it and submit it. It might feel like we're being too paranoid, but nah. I wouldn't put it above anyone out there. The internet's a cold, scary place, kids, lemme tell ya

I think Jester is just suggesting making it so guests can see the BOARDS (currently, if you were to log out and look at the homepage you wouldn't see any of the RUN section). If the guest can see the boards then they can see that there is actually stuff on the site. However, if the guest were to try to view the board they wouldn't be able to see the threads.
Which I think is possible.

It's just silly I think. Guests might come here thinking, "oooo a script writing site! ... Wait... Where are the scripts? Must be in the wrong place. OFF I GO!". They don't know the RUN Section is hidden, do they? So I think we should let it be visible on the main page, but not accessible. Make sense?

Excellent. It probably won't help recruit new members but its worth a shot lol No, but I understand what you mean. Guests come across a site and if they can't see the content there's no way they'll even consider joining. At least if a guest sees there is stuff and activity then, who knows. I predict a 0.001% increase in membership from this change.

Yeah, you should of said that in the beginning. Sorry! But as long as we agree and it can be done. Ah. Makes more sense, yeah. I am glad I'm not the only paranoid one, you can never be too careful on the internet. Yeah, maybe making it view-able but only accessible by members of the forum is something that can be done. This might seem a bit much but to go the extra mile what if we required a password? And like, new members would have to submit some sort of writing sample to say they are actually interested in screenwriting, and then after we see the sample approve them by PM'ing the password to them? But maybe this is a bit overboard and might scare off new members or make them think we believe we're better than them in requiring some form of writing sample (though we should drill it in that it's nothing personal and only for the protection of our site...) I dunno, someone else probably has a better idea. I do get a bit worried about strangers accessing our scripts and not enough protection on our writing overall.

i would say "who the hell would want to steal our writing" but i've literally had countless arguments with dick heads who stole pixel art and the like i did, and then swore blind they didn't. so if people are gonna steal crappy pixel art i did in paint 5 years ago, i'd imagine they'd be willing to download our shit copy, paste and slap their name on it. but we should probably have more faith in people.
