Welcome to The Walking Dead: Season 4 Writing Contest! This potential contest is open for those who are willing to spend the long hiatus between season 3 and 4 of The Walking Dead preparing your own ideas and writing. This will be a group effort, meaning the forum as a team will be writing their own episodes based on popular vote and general consensus! This format was used for a similar contest back when ABC's "Lost" was still airing. This forum itself hosted a season 5 and season 6 contest that went exceptionally well, based on the format the forum Lostpedia used for their own contest. The voting process contains its own set of checks-and-balances. A script must receive a majority number of the votes in order to be declared a winner for a particular episode. One vote is assigned to the script with the popular vote -- decided in a poll on the forum -- and another for each moderator who chooses their favorite script. The moderator votes carry more weight than those of people voting in the polls to assure that there is more "responsibility" in choosing a rightful winner, and to discourage cheating. The author of the previous winning script will be offered the position of temporary judge for the next episode with his/her vote carrying just as much weight as that of the moderators/judges (for example, if your script wins the premiere episode, you will be given the option to judge for episode 2. Someone wins episode 2, they will be given the option to judge episode 3). The Process1. Write your scripts! They can be anywhere from 25-45 pages in length. Exceptions will be made for mid-season finale and finale episodes.
2. Submit your script by the correct deadline for the episode (an email address will be provided).
3. Vote for your favorite scripts once they have all been posted.4. A winner will be announced at the end of the voting period.Rules1. Scripts must be written in screenplay formatting. For anyone unfamiliar, judges will provide examples to get you going on the game! Remember we are trying to emulate a potential season 4 as much as possible, so writing scripts is pivotal to that! 2. The writing period will be given to allow writers periods in between episodes to draft their next entry.
3. Write an episode summary to go along with your episode! Summaries are intended to give an overview of the whole script for better understanding; however, it is acceptable to write summaries akin to short 1 sentence previews like the ones AMC would give to promote the official episodes. 4. Rules will be instituted with regards to font sizes and formats used to prevent excessively long scripts. 5. All scripts can be written on Microsoft Word, or free scriptwriting software such as CeltX. More experienced screenwriters can use Final Draft if they have it.
~*~
We can try recruiting at various The Walking Dead forums to get any sort of interest. Anyone interested can post in this thread. By April 15th, I'd like to have a good amount of interest so let's see what we can do... Any questions, concerns, please post here as well!! Remember, this contest will not happen if not enough interest is put forth in it. So recruit your friends, recruit other Walking Dead fans, and let's get this going. It'd be a good way to pass up the time in excitement for the next season to premiere!

I will hopefully have some spare time in the weeks to come, so I'll do my best to write. TWD is kind of my new obsession, so I think this is a great idea.

Hey guys, just been browsing www.walkingdeadforums.com/forum/f99/ -- unofficial TWD forums, with a pretty active fanfic section, so there could be potential here to garner some interest from the community here. I'd suggest somebody signs up and promotes the contest here (not me though, cause I do enough and I don't watch TWD :/ lol )

Well, the Undead Fan Stories Wiki I'm a part of loved the idea and... took it for their own This is why I'm against opening up to these things. I wasn't even consulted or asked about it. Kinda pisses me off since it was my idea (to them at least - I know it was mentioned in the chat box for me to spread the word so I don't know whose idea it REALLY was, but I digress...) in the first place. But whatever. -shrug- Nice to meet you gamerdan, it's going to be exciting if everything works out the way it does. Gotta work out the kinks, we'll see how this goes. Are you familiar with screenwriting? CeltX is an easy software to develop your own scripts with if you're new to the format. I'm loving to see the interest here...
