I stumbled across Erebus pretty late on - I think this is because Erebus was never "advertised" with the RUN section of the board. That said, how would you pitch Erebus to somebody, like me, who is wondering what the hell it is?

Being on the writing-side of things was probably a breeze compare to shooting and directing. Give us a day in the life of a director. What kinds of holdups did you run into? How did it feel completely Episode One?

I stumbled across Erebus pretty late on - I think this is because Erebus was never "advertised" with the RUN section of the board. That said, how would you pitch Erebus to somebody, like me, who is wondering what the hell it is? I think a lot of people feel like they stumbled across Erebus late because it's been going on for so long, and there's really only been 1 episode put out so far (more coming, I promise!). It's because it's a filmed show - so unlike scripts, which can be posted when its finished, Erebus is literally a months-long process between writing and releasing. Being on the writing-side of things was probably a breeze compare to shooting and directing. Give us a day in the life of a director. What kinds of holdups did you run into? How did it feel completely Episode One? Oh, me and Shaun (producer, director of photography) like to imagine that the writers are just sitting back, sipping lemonade while we toil away trying to film it . Nah, but it's really, really hard. Especially being completely non-budget and non-professional, producing a single episode is a nightmare. Day in the life of Erebus: We set a filming time that works for everybody (or doesn't) - for much of the "back 4" section of Season 1 - filmed during June - our actors had play rehearsals, summer school, and camps that they had to get to, often meaning we had to film certain scenes at different times for different actors, or have them all meet around Sundown and film a little bit while it was still light, then do nighttime shoots deep into the night. Scheduling is a bitch - I was calling people so much I think I placed 50 calls (literally - I counted) to Shaun over a four day span trying to get it all to work. When we finally get people together, through, there's a bit of routine that's easier. We get the scripts together, practice the lines a couple times with the actors, get our shots lined up, and then completely wing it. I suppose in that way that working with 0 budget is kind of freeing, in that time =/= money. How long was the production process for episode one? I first received the script for part 1 of the pilot back in December of 2010, and part 2 about a month after that. We prepped for a while, filmed the opening sequence of the episode in mid-January, and then filmed the first episode and about half of the second episode in a two-day span in February. The other half of the second episode, ironically, was the last thing we shot for the season (in early July). In between, we edited like mad. We had an episode 1 finished by mid-July, so I guess you could say the process was 7 months long, but in reality it was a very on-off-on-off process, given school and other commitments. Will you sign these? **unhooks bra** Certainly, my good sir.
