Inner Self
Self reflection isn’t reviewing what others think of one’s self. It is when you divulge your heart and soul to find your inner self. Your true self. Not the self you wish to portray to others. Your inner beauty. Your very existence.
What does it look like? How does it act? Who are you?
Maybe this self can escape its chains of words unsaid. Escape the Fear, the prison you have erected in your head Escape your soul and go out in the world and show its multitude of Talents, Of beauty, of color, of race, of culture.
Maybe you can let that person escape from your soul.
Unlock the doors of constraint. Fuel the fires of self confidence.
It is a true friend. When wasn’t it there? Can you tell me. NO, you can’t. You can’t because you haven’t unleashed your inhibition.
Release it. The feeling is uncontrollable.
Allow your soul to envelope your Body, your words, your thoughts.
Allow people to see the real you. Not the one they want to see Reviews? I wrote it in 7th grade.

This poem is absolutely beautiful. It sounds like it came from your heart. Adolescence is such a confusing time; at the bottom I see you wrote it in 7th grade. Got any more of these?

Actually yes, if I have time I'll put some more up.
I hate people who try to fit in instead of being themselves, and my best friend was doing that... it was getting me soo mad cuz he was just trying to make the popular crowd like him, even though they did, he wasn't be the same person that I was hanging out with.
He actually found this and stopped, and we've been even closer friends

my best friend was doing that too and ticked me off a bit -- she joined the athletic popular crowd in high school and thought that because she was overweight, they would like her more if she was athletic. I'm glad she got active, but the reasons behind it were wrong. I'm glad she grew out of that phase and accepted the person she is- beautiful, smart, and loving. I'm glad your friend realized that and you're closer. Kodak moment. awww. When you have time, please post more. I am a psych major, so I like this sort of stuff. It is REAL. Thanks.

Great poem, Dom. I totally get what you mean about people changing who they are to fit in. I try to be myself, and well, I don't really fit in. Maybe that's why I became a writer, because the character I make up have to accept me. Otherwise I'll kill them off! MWAHAHA!!!

hahaha dan is funny, I liked his comment above MWAHAHHAHAHA!!! Ever since I became completely deaf at 19, for some reason now I can see who is fake and who isn't. I catch myself every now and then not being myself with those who can hear. There's times I don't fit in, and there's times I really do. I like to write because words mean everything to me more now than ever before. I LOVE THIS POEM DOMINICK!!! very very good.
