Listen - we pride ourselves on being unique, quirky and fucking weird. Changing it to Writers Unite won't work because there is already a Writers Unite and we'd be lost in a sea of writing sites similar to this one. Unless someone can give me a damn good reason to change it (apart from this rubbish 'it'll bring in new people'), it should not happen. This isn't a generic Writers Unite, we're not like other sites out there and we're better than all of 'em. ...or at least we will be when Ceb posts his fucking BOOMTOWN. K, I'm done. Don't change it, Kurai. Don't do it. Remember when you joined us all those years ago, we lived as kings once....bring it back home, my darling. My boy. My....cherry? PS RU 4EVA. PSS Daz sux PSSS Boomtown. The chaos that arises when a man forgets the end bracket.

Wow what an onslaught. Keep calm and carry on guys. It looks like Dan has been on and made the necessary changes anyhoo (I did not ask him to do this, so please don't think I've gone ahead and changed without listening to you first), but I want to make some responses here.
1. Why change the URL anyway? Why not change it? Our identity isn't "dan hoger" it's the RU. Gone are the days of Lost. I didn't realise my suggestion would be so controversial lol but really, it is just a name.
2. What's with this referral to MR all the time? I've never been a part of MR, I've probably looked at the homepage once or twice. Bearing that in mind, why would I be trying to replicate MR? I mean, no offence to the MR people that are here, but that site is long dead whilst we're still going relatively strong.
3. Why wasn't this site put forwards to the moderating section first? Because I have no access to the membergroups of this site so I don't actually know who the fuck is staff or not (for all I know I'd be asking for the opinions of Necktie and Blake who, unfortunately, are not currently active), and the group names are so bizarrely named they're not very helpful either lol. You'd be wrong to think that the opinions of 4 year long members don't carry more weight. But surely it's nice to hear the opinion of how a change might affect say a 1 month old member too. It's nice to have the pros and the cons.
4. The suggestion was just to change the the URL, and I felt writers unite was appropriate because it was easily discovered. I stand corrected on that though, I didn't actually think how generic a phrase "writers unite" would be. That said, the RUN would never change. The site would be righters untie, there'd still be the RUN and all of that.
5. Advertising is a good point Tafka, but I'm very limited in what I can do. Proboards actually provide a lot of advertising options and ways to get the forum discovered within their admin panel, I just can't access it xD

Also I don't know why we're so hostile towards new members... Surely we want more people to see our work instead of the same four or five?
