POINT: THE FINAL SEASON [/u] Welcome to the POINT: The Final Season booth! For all zero of you who watch the show, I have some exciting (ish) announcements. First up, the cast list for Season 4! Obviously, therein would be some spoilers for the ending of Season 3, so I'll put it in a spoiler section: Michelle Rodriguez as Alex WeissAn original character since season 1, this last season will see Alex's return to the fight against the Conspiracy.Jeremy Davies as Derek ShanThe only other original Season 1 character returning for Season 4, Derek is in a very different place than he was in the previous seasons, shaken by the losses he's suffered.Ken Leung as WellsMuch more of Wells' past will be revealed and his ties to the greater mythology will become much more important.John Leguizamo as Scott CereghinoThe return of Scott Cereghino! In fitting with his "only a main character in even numbered seasons", Cereghino will return to shoot some more machine guns.Alexandra Daddario as Molly SkrodasDue to the time jump, Molly has changed significantly -- she's become harder, colder, and more vengeance-minded after being forcefully thrown into the fight in Season 3. Alan Tudyk as Theo GormanTheo Gorman is finally upgraded to main cast, and will play an integral part in the show's endgame.Dileep Rao as Jason AngFormerly a speechwriter for the assassinated Vice President and badly injured in the attack, Ang joins the resistance in part to find out the truth and in part for revenge.and lastly but not leastly, Dominic Monaghan as Simon BethlehemSimon Bethlehem, after appearing in two episodes last season, joins the cast as the season's main antagonistic force. In addition to the cast, I'd also like to announce the titles of the first half of the final season: 1. "42 Months Later" 2. "Red Flare" 3. "Cold" 4. "Ad Infinitum" 5. Ad Absurdum" Hopefully, I'll be able to write and release the episodes on a more regular basis than Season 3, staggered with the releases of the new show... which you'll all find out more about on Wednesday. All right, I'll open it up to questions now. Anyone have 'em?[/center]

Sounds pretty cool Indy =D You got a promo coming? I'd love to check this out tbh. Argh, so much to check out actually >< Don't worry, POINT episodes aren't that long! They average about 17 ish pages in Season 1, 23 ish pages in Season 2, and 30-40 pages in Season 3. I'll have a promo and some more stuff once I start writing the season. I have it all planned, though.

What on earth is Point about?
Where on earth did the idea come from?
Have you ever gone further with a script? Approached an agency? etc

1.) As someone who's read POINT, the first season was all about the robbery. We'd see both sides - 'the cops, the robbers, the living, and the dead' - and then season 2 & 3 expanded the scope of the show. Was that always the intention, or was POINT at one point (hehehehehehe) intended to just be a one-season show about the bank robbery?
2.) Bridging off my previous question, how far in advance do you plan your seasons? For example, did you know where you were leading up to with this final season while writing season 2?
3.) Was it always the intention to write out Tanner, or was it due to negative reaction to her character?
4.) What was the mind process behind naming one character 'Johnson' and the other 'Johnston'?
I might think of more later, I have to catch up on the show still! ;D

What on earth is Point about? Um… Good one. Well, it started as a show about a bank robbery, and then in subsequent seasons expanded to tell the story of the powers behind that robbery and their opposition. Basically, it's an action-adventure conspiracy show. Initially, I wrote it as a feature outline in the style of a movie like "Traffic" or "Crash" - several interconnected stories around one event. When I got to RU, my first idea was to expand that into a full season (which would explain why the first season feels very thinly spread story-wise, and each episode is very short - it was initially just a movie). It was, at the beginning, essentially "LOST" meets "The Kill Point" (a bank robbery miniseries on Spike five years ago) While writing the pilot, I had some ideas about how the series could continue, and started writing towards multiple seasons that expanded out of the Bank. Nope. Hopefully I will in the future, though. No, not really. Once I decided to turn my initial movie idea into a series, it was always the plan to expand out of the bank and tell the story behind it in later seasons. When I was writing the pilot, I had a very specifically thought-out plan of how the seasons would go, plot and reveals wise, and how the story would gradually expand. Looking back on it now, now that the final ten episodes are all outlined, it's astonishing how close the final product was to my original outline from way back in the summer of 2009. Like I said in the previous answer, I always knew how far the show would expand each season, how far up the hierarchy we'd go in the Conspiracy, what kinds of conflicts the characters would deal with. However, the specifics of that - what would actually happen - would be sketched out only after finishing the finale of the previous season (except in the case of the end of Season 3/beginning of Season 4, where the outlining/writing of the two overlapped). But the biggest things I've known from the beginning - I knew, for example, who would die when and how the whole show, and every character, would be resolved. It's just how I get there that has changed a little. Interesting question. It's kind of both. To be blunt, she was written out earlier than I originally planned to - originally, she was supposed to survive a few episodes into Season 3, and be a rallying point for the characters at that point. When I got into Season 2, however, and around halfway through, the character motivations started to lag and I realized I needed something more substantial to propel the story through the next few episodes, and that's when Tanner's death got moved up, just to add more drama. Season 2 I actually planned out very carefully as a TV series (to make every episode feel like it had a point) but in that episode I needed to go back to a movie structure and add an "end of Act 2" moment. Tanner's death was a perfect thing to move up seven or so episodes and slot in there. In addition, I knew no one would really miss her . Honestly can't remember. I think I just forget. Looking back on my original outline, the character was originally named "Jackson". Can't remember why I changed it to Johnson. I do remember, later, realizing the similarity, that I should change it back, but then liking the mirror of Johnson to Johnston. Also, I was too lazy to go back and change the scripts. Excellent! I imagine you might have some more questions after reading the end of Season 3...
