Let's face it, boys -- the comic-book movie has never been hotter, and with Batman, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Capn' A, Spider-Man all making the rounds in the next few months....tell me, what's your favourite 10 comic-book movies? PS -- graphic novels count because they are glorified comics... DON'T ARGUE... I SAID DON'T **slaps Indy** 10. Superman Returns"Live as one of them, Kal-El, to discover where your strength and your power are needed. Always hold in your heart the pride of your special heritage. They can be a great people, Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you... my only son."9. V For Vendetta"But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, outside the gates of Parliament, and together we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot."8. Never again."3. Road To Perdition"There are only murderers in this room! Michael! Open your eyes! This is the life we chose, the life we lead. And there is only one guarantee: none of us will see heaven."2. Batman Begins"They told me there was nothing out there, nothing to fear. But the night my parents were murdered I caught a glimpse of something. I've looked for it ever since. I went around the world, searched in all the shadows. And there is something out there in the darkness, something terrifying, something that will not stop until it gets revenge... Me."1. The Dark Knight"Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn."

10. Watchmen - Directed by Zack Snyder"Rorschach's Journal: October 12th, 1985. Tonight, a comedian died in New York."TIED WITH (The Alan Moore combo I call it)10. V for Vendetta - Directed by James McTiegue"Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition."9. Iron Man - Directed by Jon Favreau"'Iron Man'. That's kind of catchy. It's got a nice ring to it."8. Sin City - Directed by Robert Rodriguez & Frank Miller"This is blood for blood and by the gallon. Allow me to offer up an opinion: 1. The Dark Knight 2. The Avengers 3. Scott Pilgrim vs The World 4. Thor 5. X-Men: First Class 6. Batman Begins 7. Iron Man 8. Spider-Man 9. X2: X-Men United 10. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
I'd say the top three are all very close to being tied. They all capture their source materials perfectly and were handled by three of the best directors in Hollywood.
EDIT -
"PS -- graphic novels count because they are glorified comics..."
Well, now that's just absurd.

After second viewing I think TDKR is better than TDK... And Bane is a better villain than The Joker. *flinches from the inevitable backlash*

After second viewing I think TDKR is better than TDK... And Bane is a better villain than The Joker. *flinches from the inevitable backlash* Everyone has their own opinions, man - RU is a place where we welcome opposing views, we cherish and embrace them. We wish to get along harmoniously with one another and the only way to achieve this is to accept each other for who they are and what they say. ...now take it back you CAHHHHNNNTTT I should explain. SPOILERS BELOW--- Ok, firstly Heath gave the better performance, this is known. BUT I feel like Bane served as a better bad guy, and Tom Hardy did an excellent job. I mistook the Joker for a terrorist when I first watched TDK. I was wrong. The Joker isn't a terrorist at all. I terrorist serves a cause, a terrorist believes in something. The Joker was more of an anarchist. He stood for chaos which was what TDK was about. Bane, however, was a terrorist. Now why I feel he was a more threatening and overall better villain is because Bane stood for something. We couldn't relate to the Joker, and let's face it; if you could, you need help. The Joker we watched through a glass window, fascinated as he served as an agent of chaos. But Bane... Bane, like Ra's al Ghul before him, believed in something; something fucking big. I was sitting there listening to Bane (this being my second viewing) and I suddenly realised I related to him. I understood what he was saying. It's hard to deny the man's logic. And that's why he was so fucking scary. He raised a lot of good points. He was intelligent and deadly. On this note, I hate people who discredit him as a glorified thug because of Talia's reveal towards the end. There is nothing at all to suggest Bane didn't plan what happened in Gotham. Favourite bit? Bane simply placing his hand on that dudes shoulder and saying, "do you feel like you have power?". Come on, shivers... Oh, and his voice was badass. I like how it was almost comical because for me that served as a chilling juxtaposition of sorts. Plus all his nuance like his eyes, and his random noises, and how fucking animalistic he went towards the end. And Bane got a lot further than The Joker did in his cause. Now, I'm not discrediting The Joker. Heath did give a better performance. But in terms of Villainy, Bane tops Joker for me. I got him, I understood his logic. Heath's Joker was a blistering attack on the senses performance. Hardy's Bane was something more subtle and overall more deadly. I think Hardy's man will be more appreciated with time. Bane man... Bane. <3

Man, I was just kidding - I didn't need your life story... JOKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I want your life-story in and around my mouth... I don't get the criticism of Bane - I thought he was terrifying and pretty damn good as far as villains go. I prefer Heath Ledger because of how riveting he was to watch on-screen. His presence wasn't as great as Bane's - whenever Tom Hardy was off-screen, I just knew he was about to burst in through a door and beat the shit out of people...I really liked that feeling that he could be anywhere, about to burst in and head-butt some random Gotham-ite. In a way, I didn't want him on-screen (but I loved every minute he was...) whilst The Joker stole absolutely everything he was in (that interrogation scene is one of the best scenes of the decade). I understand that great characters are unique and at the same time, relatable. Personally, I don't feel Bane was very relatable but he did have a vulnerable side which we didn't really see from The Joker - I loved that the Joker represented pure anarchy - it was such a well-told story and incorporated Ledger's character so well whilst I feel The Dark Knight Rises got lost a bit with its narrative and I wasn't completely sold on the Talia twist (seemed a bit frivolous but I like the human-side it gave to Bane). This is a very subjective thing - you say you prefer Bane because he wanted something and was so close to getting it as opposed to The Joker. However, I don't think the Joker was completely motive-less. He wanted to take Gotham's 'White Knight' and bring him down to his own level, which he did - that mixture of sheer maniacal corruption and purpose was fucking awesome. The way I see it - The Joker fucked Dent up, and destroyed Batman mentally. Bane came along and fucked Batman up physically...then revealed Dent's true crimes. They'd make a great team. RIP Heath. Sleep well, sweet prince

Yeah, Heath gave a better performance and he stole the show. In fact TDK to me wasn't really a film about Batman.
But I personally think Bane was the better villain. I didn't at all after my first viewing, but on the second I was like, "shit, this guy knows what the fuck he's doing. and... He's intelligent." I'd follow him :-|
And yus, we saw a different depth to him than we did the joker. And we kinda got an origin story too which was nice.
But I agree about the twist. Awful twist. Awful. Or at least awfully done.

i agree with you on bane. my only real complaint is once he blows the place to shit, breaks batman's back, has the police all buried underground in the sewers, free's the prisoners ... he does nothing. he just kind of stands around and watches. all after he gets back from taking bats on his little holiday.
