Collin copied me,
I SWEARS IT. Anyway.
5. "Barton Hollow" - The Civil Wars
4. "Drive" - Selected Artists/Cliff Martinez
3. "The King is Dead" - The Decemberists
And I have a tie ladies and gentlemen.
I can't choose between which one is my favorite. So both of these are my number one. Deal with it.
1. "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" - M83
and
1. "Welcome Reality" - Nero
Both of them have this excellent modern New Wave feel to them, and as the thread topic explains, were released in 2011.
As for singles, I'll choose which one was my favorite out of each album, in their exact same order.
5. "Barton Hollow" - The Civil Wars
An amazing alternative country track that gets your feet tapping and throat hollering
4. "Nightcall" - Kavinsky
The head-bobbing song used in Drive's intro. I've been a fan of Kavinsky for a while, but this song was just confirmation of what a great producer he is.
3. "Down by the River" - The Decemberists
Oh, what a lovely album it was. With lyrics that feel like they should be part of a riveting children's adventure novel (check out "Wildwood," written by the main lead of this band), this song is no exception.
2. M83 - "My Tears Are Becoming Sea"
While "Midnight City" is the showstealer of this album, Ceb also took it from me and I do wanna distinguish myself. Therefore, I recommend for you this song, my second favorite track of the album. John Hughes would be proud.
1. "Must be the Feeling" - Nero
Nero is an electronic/mild dubstep duo whose debut album, "Welcome Reality" made it to the top of my list. This song is amazing. It's reminscient of a late 80s, early 90s dance track with a modern electro spin. I dare you not to dance.
