What an odd song; I remember seeing Passion Pit a few years ago - think it was at the iTunes Festival and my ex's sister gave us her tickets. What a bitch, am I right? But anyway - I never particurlaly grew to them. Nothing against the music, it's just not my kinda tune. It annoys me a little, it's kind of 'wailing' in a way. Moaning Myrtle music... Of course, that's the first minute - after that, it evolves into something which I can get down with. It's definitely an acquired taste - I'm still very undecided over it. 6.5/10 This is the song that got me into this band:

Well, I think it's no secret that I'm a Ray Daives/ Kinks fan. I love this song a lot, although Death of a Clown, Lola and Waterloo Sunset top this song.
But yeah, classic British band, classic wonderful song which shall never die!
... God, I'm singing along *checks to make sure mother isn't in the room*.

Can't say I immediately recognise this song and at first, I was underwhelmed - but then it grew, and I grew (NOT LIKE THAT) - it really builds into something quite wonderful and I thought it was quite emotionally-lifting as well. I liked it - I SHALL PUT IT INTO MY PLAYLIST. 8.5/10 A song which I have recently discovered -

Lifting is the perfect word for it.
Right, onto your song boy-
The opening reminded me of Green Day for some reason. ... I don't like Green Day.
I wasn't a fan of the heavy rock opening, but then the vocals at 56 seconds kicked in and changed the song dramatically. Quite relaxed vocals. I'm actually enjoying the vocal track, but still feeling Green Day.
Oooo, Chorus, now feeling a bit Oasis. I like it. Nodding along. And now I'm whistling the tune which I've had all but 2 mins to familiarise myself with.
I wish these vocals were more at the front of the song. They kinda threaten to be comsumed by the music at points. But I am really enjoying this song. At 2:50 the heavy head banging rock element returns. See, it fits here and it's kinda like a climax whereas a the opening it felt a bit samey, like I've heard songs like this all over town!
Oooo, very subtle church organs...
Ok, that really grew on me. Unusual song in some respects.
7.5/10

Oooo, very Franz Ferdinand. And I love Franz Ferdinand. Very easy song to get into and found myself bopping along. In a way it was quite laid-back, never really worked itself into anything more, but I don't think it particularly needed to. It knew what it was, and that was fine for me. Fun to listen to. A jaunty tune ;D 8/10

Never been a massive Tom Petty fan. It's his voice I don't like really. He's musically talented, but that voice :-|
But as far as the song goes, it's good. Just good. I adore the chorus, "I'm freeeeeeeee, free falling!" (it's just so sing along!) but the verses are a tad boring. The climax is pretty epic though.

My favourite B-side---
Elbow- George Lassoes the Moon (Any Day Now Version)

This one never really took me over - it felt like it was just droning on 'til the edge of existence and carrying me solemnly with it It could have just been the quality of my speakers but it sounded like a mess - as if the lyrics and music were just blending into one another, neither really coming out on top. I can't say I've heard much of their other stuff either, but this doesn't really sell them to me. 3/10 **giggles childishly**

DEAN! HOW DARE YOU! HOW VERY DARE YOU! It's such a great song Your speakers clearly have AIDS. Right, I adore They Might Be Giants (Malcolm in the Middle FTW). And I love this song. However, I swear I know a different more Techno version... Hmm... But, God it's so catchy! I caught it! WATCH ME DANCE! And what a video! lol. 8/10I'm determined to sell the Elbow. So here is one of my favourite tracks from their 4th album. And it's live! Elbow- Starlings Gorgeous lyrics, gorgeous honey laced tone. :') <3

Definite improvement - I listened to the video you supplied as well as the album version because I wasn't really a fan of the instrumentals, but quickly realised that was part of the song. Eh. It sort of set me on edge and not in a good way - I think it's something I could get into but it's just not there at the moment. Perhaps I'm weird for not liking it - anyone else got any opinions on Elbow? Just a bit TOO minimalistic for me without ever really getting going. Maybe that's just a pansy excuse but it was just a bit...boring 5/10

Loved it. There was something very 80's about it but it still felt modern. The harmonies during the chorus section are fucking awesome as well.
9/10
Now I don't really expect for this to get a great rating because Gordon Lightfoot is NOT for everybody by any means, but I'm a big fan of narrative lyrics and this is one of my favorites.

something very easten about that guitar in the opening.
Lyrics, very camp fire-y. I liked it, very Irish too. I liked the story a lot. I followed along with the onscreen lyrics. The witch of November- what a bitch.
I felt like I needed a good old barrel of mead to lift in the air and down.
God hugely bored after about 3 mins to be honest. It was a story I suppose, but as a song it never went anywhere.
5/10
Within Temptation- Utopia
Probably the bands most mainstream song-

While I believe the band is talented based off of the bits I've heard from them, this song didn't really catch me right for some reason :/ I don't think it's a BAD song by any means, but it just didn't hit me right for some reason.
7/10

I'm always on the fence with MGMT. Every time I find a song I like, I then find one I don't.
This was a cool jam. A little too relaxed vocally. I must admit, I loved the video lol. BUT THIS IS ABOUT THE MUSIC, DAMNIT!
I liked the chorus but I felt like there wasn't a substantial change between the chorus and the verse. There is a subtle rhythm guitar in their somewhere which is rather sexy.
It got a bit hypnotic towards the end; like I was at a fairground hearing this crescendo of music from scores of different rides.
It was good. Only good.
6.5/10
To celebrate her return to the UK Top 10 here is one of my favourite Kate Bush songs. This genuinely breaks my heart so be warned. Listen nice and closely. And in a silent room if you can...
Kate Bush- This Woman's Work
P.S, whilst you dry those tears, Kate actually lives up the road from me in total recluse with her son who's comically named 'Berty', Ha.

Something so genuine in her voice -- very pretty song honestly, and you can feel the emotion in her voice. Lovely song, sad really. 9/10 Say what you will about Maroon 5 - love this song

Dale, interesting. Sexy. I wanna dance in a field naked whilst it rains swaying my arms left and right. However, it was 6 mins of a lotta the same thing. Apart from the badass guitar solo mid song it never really went anywhere. The two main vocal tracks were like waves, but in a good way. The way the two lapped in and out over each other... Nice. 6.5/10@johno, I'm a Maroon 5 fan. Not a massive super fan, but a fan no less. I loved this song so much. It was beautiful. Wonderful soaring vocals from Adam. Lovely minimalistic piano supporting him. One thing that annoyed me, the line; "I'm so sad." we get that. It's a sad song, way to point out the obvious lol. But apart from that, I connect with the song, it's beautiful, the vocals are crisp and clear. And there's some real emotion in there. A tenderness to the way he fades off his words. No clipping, which is nice, cause it gives the song a one take feel. 'I'm so sad' after listening to that song 8/10I love this song so much- Extreme- More than Words

Ah, brilliant song another one my Dad listened to a lot when I was younger. I've always loved the way the vocals were layered and how they meshed. 10/10 Blur - The Universal

Dude, love LOVE this song. Not even a Blur fan, but this song is such a classic. Ceb, just come live over here already Ha, glad you posted the video. I've always loved the Clockwork Orange look, my little Droog. But as a song, it's unusual, it's so Blur. I love the little wind instrument. Adds so much. I've listened to this twice now lol. I just love this song. <3 and the chorus is so sing a long. 9/10One of the greatest songs of all time, by one of the greatest bands of all time (fuck you all) :-| <3 :')

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA. ABBA.
...:-|
I kid. Big fan of 70's/80's music, those eras are just so sweet and Abba is no different. My mom's a huge Abba fan, so I've heard this song countless times and I have to say, great tune. I really do love the vocals in this one, the lyrics are a tad cheesy but its ABBA FOR FUCK'S SAKE! Gotta love it. 9/10

HAND CLAPS!!! CLAP CLAP, PAUSE, CLAP. CLAP CLAP, PAUSE, CLAP.
Wonderful song. Full of so many little musical ticks and jitters and all the wonderful magical idiosyncratic sounds I've come to love from these guys. <3
