Ok, so its simple. I post a song. The next person listens to it, writes up their thoughts on the song, and posts one of their own. And repeat. The songs can literally be by anyone. A well known artist, new artist, small time band etc. Anything you wanna share, share it. If you know the artist, say something about the artist too. Give the song a good old listen though. And try and be a bit thorough in your thoughts. Oh, and please don't bash anyone for their music tastes. I anticipate this because I have a hugely gay music taste. So to repeat, short review of the song, and then share one of your own. Ok, so I'm gonna kick it off with the gayest of gay, One and Only, undisputed Queen of Pop, Madonna with a beautiful cover of Marvin Gaye's "I want you". Sound by the fantastic Massive Attack. Thoughts?

Madonna's got a nice voice, not a fan of the arrangement, but it's a nicely-sung tune so I can't complain much. And she's sexy, too, which helps. 7/10
Angus and Julia Stone's cover of "You're The One That I Want" from Greese.

From the moment she started talking, I fell in love. Beautiful voice. If a little nasal. But I loved her arrangement. Something romantic about the way she sung it (which obviously fit the song). Loved when that little subtle beat kicked in around the 1min mark.
<3 her little laugh at the end.
She sung like a beautiful little whisper in my ear. Loved it. 9/10
My favourite band at the moment. Loved Elbow for years. One of their most epic songs. (its better live to be honest)

Hello peeps, just thought I'd join in (and don't worry Jester, my music taste is probably equally as gay). So I don't think I've heard any of Elbow's stuff, which is strange - since I'm usually a fan of mellow songs, although there was part of me that wanted it to pick up a bit after about a minute. Overall I think I'll give these guys a listen at some point - 7/10
Plus I liked Johno's one (am I allowed to say that?)
So just as a warning, my music taste constantly changes. Right now I'm in a major 80's zone.
*I'll post something cooler later I swear!

7/10 - Not a big Hall & Oates fan, but a good song. Brings back awesome GTA memories too.
I'm also in an 80's mood --

One of my fav bands of all time. Saw them in concert during the "Frontiers" tour and they rocked this song when they came out.
Still, "Escape" contains my favorite music from them "Don't stop believing, Stone in Love, Who's crying now, Open Arms"
9/10
Listen to some Gin Blossoms.

6/10 Hmm, I like the Gin Blossoms, with the exception of a few songs. Never heard this song before. It's good. This isn't as good as other stuff.
The chorus works for me though. I just wish the rest of the song lived up to it. I could totally see this on my jam driving through Tennessee during the day after a rainstorm just finished.
I just heard this at the bookstore, so I'll post it here:

For some reason I heard a bit of The Smiths in there. God knows why. Also a bit of "Do They Know its Christmas".
I liked it. The woman's voice began to grate on me a little. Very one tone, but I suppose thats her style. As for the song, it was nice, catchy and kinda dreamy. I liked it.
The groovy bit from 1.50- 2:26 had me throwing my head around like a hippy.
7/10

8/10 Dark lyrics, slow and a little depressing - but good. I don't know if I could listen to them a lot - but in the right frame of mind I would really enjoy them. It was like a Sufjan Stevens-The Frames hybrid. Thought the song kind of dwindled towards the end, just faded off.
I'll check out more of their stuff.

Oh I loved it. Very Irish. (Villagers are an Irish band too). Although there was a little bit of Mexican in there with the horn. Musically it was quite a happy song. I was bobbing my head throughout. The singer reminded me a little of Morrissey. I liked it.
7/10
David Bowie- Lady Grinning Soul
If I had to pick a favourite Bowie song this one would be right up there. Its like seduction in my ear. Gorgeous, sexy piece of music. The amazing Mike Garson on piano.

I am a bit of a Bowie fan, mainly just from watching the Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes shows.
Not really my favourite song by him, but he's just amazing so I don't really mind. 8/10!
Anyways, moving on. I love Laura Marling and the whole depressing folk music style, it picks up about a minute in so hold on!

6/10Not my favorite. I've never been big on folksy artists. Some, I like. But I can't name many female folk artists. I dunno what that says about my taste in music, but whatevs. This was okay though. But it didn't blow me away. Braids - Lemonade

@orange- do you like Regina Spektor? Your song reminded me a little of her.
@necktie- Oooo Ambience! Beautiful peaceful opening there. Even if it wasn't for the picture I would have gotten the sea vibe. I really like it. Its a patient song. Gorgeous movements in the music and soft vocals. I like how all the layers of sound lap together.
2:15 where the musical shifted and her vocals kicked in more was great. Had me attempting to sing along even though I don't know the song haha.
Its kinda one of those songs which I'd imagine playing in my head when I'm walking out and about in the summer.
Like the subtle backing vocals at 4:25.
Totes clapping along at 4:40.
5:00, like the crashing of waves <3
Well that song was an experience. I'm gonna slap on a 10/10 right there. Thanks Necktie. Discovered a beautiful new song there.
I'm gonna go with something dark to balance that one out.

I liked the opening a lot. I liked the middle part a lot. I liked the ending a lot too.
Seems like something you could really clap along with at a live show at 1 AM when you're about to pass out. The build up was nice - kept getting better and better - you just wanna sway to that.
Yeah, it was good.
Overall, 8/10
Time for an awesome remix of some classics:

Ooooo grovetastic. Total head bopper. I wasn't expecting that dubsteplike beat at the 1 minute mark. Now I think I'm a gangster. 1:50, loving it. Now I'm totally clicking along.
I genuinely loved that. Totes stealing that track for the next house party I have.
Madonna- Human Nature
This song means a lot to me. Basically Madonna released a coffee book about sex as well as an album entitled Erotica. The media crushed her for it. So this was her response. I live my life by the words of this song.

Hmmm, I'm gonna go with a 7/10. I do like the meaning behind it, but Madonna just scares me a bit. Although I did see the recent interview with her on Graham Norton and she wasn't too bad :S I do like some of her earlier stuff though - and this score was brought up mainly through the sort of R&B feel of it, I didn't know Madonna even tried that!
Going with something more modern from me (which is unusual) but here we go:
I couldn't decide between the original and the remix. Too indecisive dammit. Plus maybe don't watch the video, it makes me dizzy

Trippy tune, though I have to say I enjoyed it. Not really my type of music, and it doesn't stand out in my mind at all, but I liked it overall. 7/10"Visually Appealing" by The Chain Gang of 1974

@orange. I dug that song. Totes downloading that song. And yeah, a lot of people aren't aware of how many genre's Madonna has done. Her Erotica album (which in retrospect is considered a masterpiece) has heavy jazz influences.
@johno. Oh Johno... Oh Johno you sexy babe. Thats like ear sex. Lovin' it. I actually just got up and turned off my dishwasher so I could hear it better lol (yes my computer is in the cheap and nasty brothel D:). This is why I love this, because now I'm gonna go away and listen to more of these guys. That keyboard hook is killer. Just take it or leave it now! *dances*
9/10
I'm gonna freak you all out and go with one of my favourite clasical pieces. If anyone can guess what this song is about without looking it up then you win an internet hug.
(it was written by a man btw)
